The Greatest Beach Date Ever.

Saturday, April 19, 2008

I am especially thankful for my day. :]

I had plans — me having ME time at the beach, "celebrating" a month and a day after the painful breakup, indulging in a few pages of Gabo Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera, and putting my photography potentials in practice. I just wanted to be alone today, to be somewhere else and to not care about the world for once. I started according to plan, actually. Everything was as I had imagined it to be. Until I got to the beach, that is.

My beach of choice was at Ebenezer Bible College. For all I know, it was almost nonexistent to fellow Zamboangueños, thus the perfect place to spend a lazy quiet afternoon by myself. But when I saw children running about and adults yelling at them to be careful and stuff, I knew it wasn’t going to be that quiet after all. Well, I didn’t care. I took a spot on the stone steps and got "busy" being idle when the children formed three or so groups and started what seemed like practicing. They were singing songs like "Read your Bible, pray everyday…" and "Ang Diyos maayo man… (GOD is good)". That’s when I figured that it’s some sort of Sunday schooling. Or in their case, Saturday schooling.

Watching them sing, dance, and recite Bible verses inspired me to be makapal and take shots of them. So I put on my genuine happy-stranger-slash-joiner face and approached Ate Ging, one of the organizers, and asked permission to document the rest of the activity. The pictures would tell you she said yes. Haha. ;]

It’s amazing how the BIG GUY UP THERE uses other people to remind you that life goes on and that you have no reason to fret whatsoever. I was aiming for an emotional dreary day — which was totally wrong and not to mention stupid! — but instead I met these angels and felt myself alive and healing once more. :]

It’s been a month and a day now. And I am scared no more. Thank You, LORD. Thank you, dear angels. :]

This was a priceless moment. Priceless. :]

Yes, I know. Ang saya nga eh, knowing na bumabalik na ‘ko sa dati. Don’t worry, you will have yourself back, too. Soon. :)

Haha. Nakuha ko yung book sa National Bookstore. Ang mamahal talaga ng works ni Marquez! Buti na lang on sale sila that time. :D Coelho’s super good rin. Wee. Magkasinabtanay (mao ba?) jud ta. :D
